// about & info

Anouk Nani, Manhattan, 2024

Photo: Doug Graves

I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin, working across a wide range of media, including poetry, hand embroidery, photography and sculpture.

My art emerges from everyday life and thrives on grains of absurdity and humor. I specialize in documenting, exploring and visualizing truths and beauty in the ugliness of this world. Drawing on my background in biodiversity, ecology, and evolution, my work regularly touches upon themes of nature and science. A strong sense of resource limitation and love for manual processes often lead me to choose found objects, trash, and time-intensive techniques as materials and methods. I embrace a playful art practice that celebrates the freedom of exploration.

Through my art, I seek to create small moments of disruption, inducing flashes of hope and inviting a pause. These allow us to notice the unexpected and foster a habit of reflection, questioning who we are and how we want to live.
